The flat, we got one in a great location with lots of bars/ restaurants and shops all within walking distance and we finally have started to make it a home. House is in Brunswick East for anyone interested about 20 minutes from the city centre by Tram. We purchased some furniture, including a bed and sofa which we had to build. It only took about 5 hours! But we did it! Ikea instructions work, praise the lord. We also brought exciting things like the Fridge and washing machine. We are now essentially proper adults. We got the news this morning that our Shipment will be here next week Tuesday (1st Dec) so just a week to go and then we will have all of our personal belongings.
Tasmania, so as most of you know Matt had to fly over to Tasmania for work the Monday after he started as his client was based there, so without even having a chance to sleep in the bed, we spent 5 hours making he jetted off to Tassie. Jamie flew out on the Wednesday- Sunday as you will see from the Blog ‘My 24th Birthday’. Friday came and Matt was off to work again so Jamie decided as he has a love for botanical gardens he would go and visit the ones in Tassie, it was an hour walk each way so lots of walking in one day, in fact, he walked 16.77km (the benefits of Fitbit). The gardens were worth it though some amazing plants, lots of Australian ones which he had not seen before and some amazing ponds and wildlife too.
Whilst Matt was working we did, however, find time for some delicious dinners as you can probably see from the pictures, the food choice in Aus, in general, is pretty fantastic. We also popped for a quick drink on Thursday and found the most amazing outdoor heaters, It was a massive long pole which managed to turn the outdoor area into an indoors, pretty handy when it gets a bit chilly.
We also managed to explore the docks and had some great views!
Saturday came and it was finally a day to spend together as Matt had the weekend off, we decided to hire a car and drive around and see the island a bit. Our 1st stop was a wildlife sanctuary called Bonorong. It was our 1st time of actually seeing a Kangaroo, Koalas and the Famous Tasmanian devils. We got to feed the Roo’s which was amazing (and stroke the Koalas).
Whilst driving around the island our satnav decided to take us down a nice shortcut which helpfully had the sign, “if you don’t have a permit fuck off”. We almost ran over a pig doing a nice u-turn but managed to escape unharmed.
We also popped into the world famous Mona art gallery which had some pretty spectacular exhibits and some weird stuff, was a good couple of hours and even managed to sneak in a G&T.
On Sunday we woke up early and did a massive drive to the national park, stopping on the way we saw some amazing views. Including a very quiet beach with views that were just breath-taking, we also found a cute little place in the country called Kate’s and the ice cream was very good. We arrived at the National Park and started on a path to go and see wine glass bay and the views were amazing it’s a shame we couldn’t go down to the beach but Jamie was flying back at 9pm ready for work on Monday morning.
Monday morning and its Jamie’s 1st day at work, up ready and on the way. Get into the office and he finds out that he is on the field watching someone see how they do their sales pitch so he can be ready by Wednesday to do it by himself, get offered to go on a field trip to Wodonga a p.lace many miles away so he says yes and it’s a good learning experience. Tuesday come and a 2nd day training with someone different so I’m taking mental notes all day and learning how to do the IPad another good day. Day 3 all alone so I’m on my own and ready to go, I go to one door so shaky muck it up and leave within 1 minute, now I’m terrified and can’t do it. Push through the day as its awful have an early night and go to bed. Day 4 ‘I want to go home’. So talk to the manager she takes me to station and I never ever ever want to do a job like that again in my life! ’Back to the job hunt’.
